London is already fully engaged in the new edition of the London Design Festival that will be held from September 17th to 25th. An annual opportunity to discover the most innovative trends in the design world, that puts the British capital in the spotlight worldwide. A lot of activities, events, conferences, workshops and exhibitions take place throughout the city of the Thames and transform it with colors, shapes and urban reflections.
The festival was created in 2003 by Sir John Sorrell and Ben Evans initially to reinterpret the buildings in the city, and now extends over a vast program that brings together more than 400 artistic proposals. Alongside, several design fairs are developed in parallel, and all together they convey a unique artistic vibration: 100% Design, Decorex International 2016, designjunction, FOCUS / 16 and London Design Fair join forces to carry out a deep look into the world of design in all its variants, from different points of view and perpectives.
Among the wide array of proposals presented in this festival, we would highlight Alex Chinneck´s Greenwich installation, with its impressive ‘A bullet from a Shooting Star’ 35 meters high sculpture made with a tower of electricity. Or Somerset House, the historic building in the heart of the city, which hosts an exhibition of 10 international designers. 100% Design Fair will, in turn, reflect on color, since its ‘Design in Colour’ seeks to discover the trends around the chromatic variations in the world of interior design.
Certainly a must-see to discover the best of the international scene in the field of industrial and artistic design, an encounter that we in Inalco always keep in mind to help us move forward in the right direction to where future and opportunity are headed.
