The world of architecture will have in just a few weeks a new capital in Berlin, where the new edition of the World Architecture Festival will be held from November 16th to 18th. Three days and four nights that will provide a global overview of the year’s best proposals. Conferences (some of them carried out by illustrious professionals such as Patrik Schumacher, Ole Scheeren or Peter Cook), seminars, visits to Berlin guided by architects and networking activities will be some of the main elements of this new edition of the WAF in which 411 projects have been shortlisted for their annual awards.
More than 2,000 professionals from 65 countries are expected to visit the festival´s epicenter at Arena Berlin, whose activities will be inspired by the slogan ‘home for all’: a reflection about the variety of influences and the raising importance on architecture of social migration crises and disasters, with conferences focused on “the growing understanding of how global demographics and urbanization are forcing change.”
The festival will award prizes in a total of 31 categories, divided into three main sections: Completed Buildings, Future Projects and Landscape. In addition, all applications will become part of the WAF file (World Building Directory Online Database), where works can be traced by current situation, country, year, award and keywords.
Once again, the jury formed by Louisa Hutton (Sauerbruch Hutton), David Chipperfield (David Chipperfield Architects) or Sanjay Puri (Sanjay Puri Architects) among others will have the difficult task of reward this year ´s best ideas in architecture. We in Inalcotrends will stay tuned to this interesting reflection within the architecture world, looking for new trends, ways and possibilities.
