The 2017 Design Awards

Cities, places, people, objects, ideas … The scope of the design soaks up different aspects of our everyday, and that is why Wallpaper wanted to reward in its 2017 edition the best results in various fields. Throughout 11 specific categories, an international jury has already awarded these prizes that try to establish a panorama for trends and inspiration on which to sustain and create during this year.

The city of Lisbon (Portugal) is the winner of the award for the most outstanding capital for its cultural and architectural influence. Dyson´s ‘Supersonic’ hair dryer is another awarded whose design has revolutionized the field of domestic hairdressing. Designers are also rewarded as the great and necessary inspirers that mark trends. And thus, Jasper Morrison is the designer of the year.

Another award-winners are the Konieczny’s Ark studio KWK Promes, a private house in Poland that brings together architecture, design and almost an artistic and futuristic vision; and the Odette Resturant in Singapore, the best restaurant with a design in shades of clear marble that transport clients to other times.

These prizes are a clear intention statement about design, how professionals go forward and therefore where we should focus to continue looking at the future and create it.
